He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank M. Copenhaver and May Pannell Copenhaver; and his siblings, Lois Litz and Wayne Copenhaver. He is survived by: his wife Jean Jones Copenhaver; his son David Copenhaver (Rachel) of Pittsburgh, PA.; and his grandchildren, Paige Copenhaver, Reese Copenhaver and Edward Copenhaver.
