He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley; and his parents, Judy Shorter and Jerry Shorter. He is survived by: his children, Debra Berryman (Bart) and Richard Charles Shorter (Jennifer); his stepchildren, Shirley Mercier (Arville), Phyllis Farleigh and Jesse "Bo" Bishop; his grandchildren, Jacob, Alyssa Berryman, Olivia, Cullen Shorter, Brandon, Brittany Mercier and Falon Newton; and his brothers, Bill Shorter (Jane) and Edward Shorter (Meshiel). He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
