It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roy Carter Jr. of Covington, Virginia, who passed away on December 6, 2023, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Roy Carter Jr. to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy H. Carter, Sr. and Mary Chapman Kelly; his siblings, Victoria C. Holloway, Joe Louis and Reginald Carter; and his stepfather Hillary Kelly.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Mattews Carter of Covington; his children, Lisa C. Wiley (Steve) of Covington and Tony Carter (Marcie Alfred); his grandsons, Keenan Smith of Staunton, KaShawn Carter of Covington and Khalil Carter of Roanoke; his great grandchild Sophia; and his nieces and nephews, Kim Jefferson (George) and Bryant Holloway (Lisa Stone).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to Pine Street Baptist Church, Men's Fellowship, 347 E. Pine Street, Covington, VA. 24426.
