With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Hilda Grace Byer of Covington, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 2, 2025 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Julian Byer and Myrtle Perkins Byer; her husband Arlan L. Bates, Sr.; and her sons, Jamie Gill and Billy Gill.
She is survived by: her sons, Bobby Gill of Covington, Keith Byer of Covington and Arlan Bates, Jr. (Dottie Thompson) of Covington; her grandson Brady Byer of Chester; her niece Anna Cheney; and her close friends, Marilyn, Loretta and Julie. She is also survived by eight great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home (1102 S Highland Ave, Covington, VA 24426). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 11:00 PM at the Arritt Funeral Home (1102 S Highland Ave, Covington, VA 24426). Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
