Freda Elfred Raco Gilmore Obituary

Freda Elfred Raco Gilmore, 93, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Thursday, November 21, 1991, at Allegheny Regional Hospital, Low Moor, Va.

Born on April 16, 1898, in Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late William H. Spillard and Nellie Jane (Gaiter) Spillard. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her former husband, Mervin S. Gilmore, on Aug. 7, 1963; two sons, infant Mervin E. Gilmore and Henry C. Gilmore; four daughters, infant Emma L. Gilmore, Viola F. Redman, Beulah A. Crites and Doris L. Walker; two brothers, Wilbert Spillard and Maynard Spillard, and six sisters, Ida Spillard, Anna Beckwith, Edna Spillard, Pauline Moats, Rosie Washington and infant Unice Spillard.

Mrs. Gilmore was a Homemaker, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was a member of the Petersburg Church of God, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are three daughters, Jane A. Redman, of Petersburg; Hossana Barnes, of New York, and Nellie R. Redmon, of Moorefield; 24 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.

The Schaffer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends will be received there Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Petersburg Church of God by the Rev. Charles Duncan.

Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.
