With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley Story Ross of Courtland, Virginia, who passed away on December 6, 2024 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Otis Story and Nancy Harcum Story; her husband Guy Wesley Ross; her children, Deborah R. Hawks, Michael O'Neal Ross and Joey Dean Ross; and her siblings, Inez Worrell, Reuben and Elliott Story.
She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Kathy Ross; her grandchildren, Shawn Maddrey, Jessica Newsome (Adam), Lacey Maddrey Snell (Henning), Wesley Ross (Amanda), Ashley Smith (John) and Jamie Stearns (Josh); and her great grandchildren, Gavin Edwards, Carlee Edwards, Riley Maddrey, Addison Newsome, Jackson Newsome, Zola Mae Snell, Loretta Snell, Madilyn Smith, Blake Smith, Mason Stearns, Kasey Stearns and Brantley Ross.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Wright Funeral Home (206 W 4th Ave, Franklin, VA 23851). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and suggests that memorial donations be made to Sycamore Baptist Church.
