It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sherman L Joyner Sr. (Courtland, Virginia), who passed away on September 10, 2019, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Billy" Joyner and Essie Blythe Joyner; his brother James William Joyner; and his sister-in-law Iola "Dick" Joyner. He is survived by: his wife Jean Velvin Joyner; his children, Betty Jean Whitby (Thomas), Lee Joyner (Lisa), Wayne Joyner (Jody), Glenn Joyner (Janet) and David "Shoebox" Joyner; his daughter-in-law Janet A. Joyner; his grandchildren, Jennifer Joyner (Josh), Leigh Ann Fillmore (Craig), Brian Joyner (Kelly), Doug Whitby (Ashley), Amanda Whitby, Katie Joyner, Taylor Joyner, Ashley Morris (Dustin), Sara Story (Jake), Lauren Morgan (Lance), Adam Joyner (Bethany) and Abbie Joyner; his pet Lilly; and also Dorothy Jordan.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Hunterdale Baptist Church or a favorite charity.
