She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Everard and Virginia Kanipe Phelps; her brother James "Jimmy" Phelps; her nephew Randy Phelps; her niece Pamela Phelps Harrell; and her spouse Russell Edward Darden.
She is survived by: her children, Elizabeth Francis (Keith) of Sedley, Kathryn Holland (Chris) of Alton and Robert Edward Darden (Sheila) of Courtland; her grandchildren, Walt Francis, Sarah Francis, Rachael Holland, Rebecca Holland, Taylor Ann Darden, Robert Edward Darden Jr., Hunter Lee Darden and Alexandra Darden; her sisters-in-law, Delight Andrews (Glen) of Rocky Mount, NC and Peggy Phelps of Gloucester; her nephew Micheal Joyner (Diane) of Richmond; her friend Jean Barker; her close friends, Shirley Lee, Gail Phillips and Sally Owens; and her caregivers, Thelma, Lavonda, LaTrise, Tonya and Dianne.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Wright Funeral Home (206 W 4th Ave, Franklin, VA 23851). A memorial service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Luke Episcopal Church (22430 Main St, Courtland, VA 23837).
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4PM Sunday, February 16 in Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorial donations be made to St. Luke Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 156, Courtland, VA 23837 or Courtland Fire Department, 23067 Main St., Courtland, VA 23837.
