He was predeceased by: his brother Richard; and his wife Kathryn. He is survived by: his children, Renee Grooms (Mark) of Concord, VA, Jeff Bird (Debbie) of Manassas, VA and Greg Bird of Concord, VA; and his grandchildren, Daniel Grooms, Chris Grooms, Rachel Justice (Grooms), Lyndsey Bird and Justin Bird. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the mission's ministry of Thomas Terrace Baptist Church.
