He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Rakes and Rebecca Willis Rakes; and his brothers, Fonta Rakes and Cecil Rakes. He is survived by: his wife Ruth M. Rakes; his children, Kirby G. Rakes, Jr. (Jamie) and Becky Lowe; his grandchildren, Zachary Rakes (Carrissa), Riley Rakes (Sydney), Griffin Rakes, Chrissy Lowe (Max Hedouin) and Mandy Pilk (Pat); and his great grandchildren, Ben Rakes, Natalie Rakes, Luke Pilk, Sam Pilk and Stella Hedouin.
