He was predeceased by: his parents, Fitz Lee Hodges and Effie Mae Hale Hodges; his wife Rose Maria Bourgea Hodges; his close friend Ruby Kelly; his son Lonnie Lee Hodges, Jr.; and his siblings, Aileen Arden, Herman "Hunky" Hodges and Gary Hodges.

He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa Schafer (Bruce) and Michelle Hodges; his grandson Kevin Schafer (Caitlin); his great grandchildren, Anson and Cormac Schafer; and his sisters, Avis Gilley and Marie Stone (Bernard).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Stepping Stones, 600 Northside Drive, Martinsville, VA 24112.
