He was predeceased by: his parents, Sara Lambert Thompson and Grant Thompson; his granddaughter Elizabeth Annette Thompson; and his siblings, Helen Fernandez, Nadine Martin and Elmo Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Claudine Steffey "Dean"; his children, Lisa Gibson (Greg) of Kingsport, TN, Stephanie Sessoms (Ray) of Raleigh, NC and Lowell Prentice Thompson II (Kelly) of Strongsville, OH; his grandchildren, Lowell Prentice Thompson III and Brianna Bleu Thompson; his stepgrandchildren, Shawn Sessoms and Shannon Mullis; his pets, Gracie and Priscilla; and his niece Joan Dotson (Bill) of Indiana. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.
Due to Covid-19, a traditional visitation prior to the service will be postponed and a Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Lum's honor may be made to the American Heart Association, the Pat Summit Foundation or a local food bank.
