He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther C. Helbert and Virginia Nixon Helbert; his siblings, Luther C. Helbert, Jr., Margaret Smith, Dolly Dowell and Roxanne LaForce; and his great-nephew Theo Helbert-Fueglein.
He is survived by: his niece Daniella Short; his wife Pam Salyer Helbert; his daughter Beth Hubbard (Derek); his grandsons, Hudson Hubbard and Rowen Hubbard; his daughter Bailey Helbert (Grant Bloomer); and his siblings, Nancy Salyer (Joe), Jeffrey Helbert (Lana) and David Helbert of Coeburn. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
