She was predeceased by: her parents, Hazel Oliver Mitchem and Charles Lee Mitchem; her brother Linwood R. Mitchem; and her sisters-in-law, Myra Fitchett Mitchem and Jane Broaddus Mitchem.
She is survived by: her friend Green Point; her brother James P. "Jimmy" Mitchem; her granddaughter Jena Zarling (David); her nephew J. Michael Mitchem (Lynnette); her nieces, Amy E. Mitchem and Debbie Mitchem Pickwick (David); her cousins, Katie Dutton (Sammy), Phyllis Karas and JoAnn Yancey (Herb); her granddaughter Karen Wheeler; and her caregivers, April Eller and Torrie Walton. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the H. C. Smither Memorial Cemetery (251 Smithers Ln, Cobbs Creek, VA 23035).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mathews Volunteer Fire Department, Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, or the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society.
