She was predeceased by: her parents, Grover Armistead and Alma Armistead; her husband George Calvin Atherton, Jr.; and her brothers, James Armistead and Ralph Armistead.
She is survived by: her children, Keith Armistead, Troy Armistead, Amy Armistead and Joey Atherton (Grace); her grandchildren, Aaron Forrest, Kyle Shipley and Tanner Sears; and her siblings, Joyce Hudgins, Mary Jenkins and William Armistead (Gloria). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
