He is survived by: his wife Julia G. Akers of Cloverdale; his daughter Brittney Akers Bryant; his son-in-law Brad Bryant; his grandchildren, Brayden of Troutville, VA. and Brynnan Bryant of Troutville, VA.; his sister Carolyn Goodykoontz of Roanoke; his close friends, June Gregory, Roger Thompson of Roanoke and Tanya Strickler of Cloverdale; and his niece Cezanne (John Ratliff) of Hamilton, Virginia.. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
