He was predeceased by: his father Dorsey Sharp; his son Ernest James Sharp; his son-in-law Gary Whitehead; and his siblings, Harold Sharp, Joe Sharp, Jerry Sharp and Janet Gurd.
He is survived by: his wife Anita Sharp of Gap Mills, WV; his daughter Jacqueline S. Whitehead of Salem; his close friend Ellis J. Bates; his son Levi Michael Bates; his sisters, Susan Terrell of Covington, Delores Rose of Ohio and Carolyn Waugh of Covington; his sister-in-law Nellie Sharp of Ozark, AL; his granddaughter Courtney Whitehead Dillman (Bradford) of Salem; and his great grandchild Evelyn Louise Dillman. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Temple Baptist Church, 300 Stratton St., Covington, VA 24426, or to the humane society of your choice in Roy's name.
