She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray VanDevender and Hazel Simmons VanDevender; and her brothers, Robert "Bob" VanDevender and Gaines "Jack" VanDevender. She is survived by: her husband James Edward "Jimmy" Vest; her brother Don VanDevender of Winston-Salem, NC; and her sister-in-law Janice Bostic VanDevender of Pikeville, NC. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
