She was predeceased by: her parents, Emory Nichol Vess and Louise Roscoe Marshall Vess; her husband Paul Bryant Forbes; her son Ronnie Forbes; her siblings, Garnett Vess, Alice Nichols, Betty McGlothin and Catherine Windsor; and her son-in-law Joe Smiley Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Janet Plecker (Craig), Teresa Smiley, Randy Forbes (Kathy) of Millboro and Dennis Forbes (Stephanie) of Millboro; and her grandchildren, Shannan Waldeck, Christopher Plecker, Monica Plecker, Lawanda Ryder, Bobbie Jo Van Ness, Shawna Argabright, Ryan Forbes, Cody Forbes, Casey Forbes, Nathan Forbes, Amanda Burke, Jacob Smiley and Justin Smiley. She is also survived by nineteen great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Nicely Funeral Home (405 Alleghany St, Clifton Forge, VA 24422). A funeral service was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
