He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lawrence and Loretha Lockrey Childs; his brother Robert Childs, Jr.; and his children, Ronald Gregory Robbins and Christine T. Robbins.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Elmore Childs of Covington; his daughter Maryanne Neal of Pennsylvania; his sister Sue Ellen Chaplin (Ronald) of Davidson, Michigan; and his grandchildren, Anna and Leslie Neal. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
