He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucius Irvine and Mary Alice Miller Irvine; his wife Wanda Jean Hayslett Irvine; his siblings, Tommy, Calvin, Lee Roy, Donald and Mary Helen; and his son-in-law Thomas W. Vess.
He is survived by: his daughters, Gwen Vess-Whitmore (Kenny) of Covington and Carla Irvine Mills (George) of Chester; his grandchildren, Benjamin Carlton "Benjie" Vess (Kay), Tomalei Jeanine Vess, Matthew Carlton Mills and Justin Caleb Mills; his great grandchildren, Dylan Wade Vess and Draven Quinn Whitmore; and his siblings, Nancy Glover of Lynchburg, Ronnie Irvine of Lynchburg, Larry Irvine (Sue) of Lynchburg and Bobby Irvine (Debbie) of Lynchburg. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
