He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend William E. Sparks and Violet M. Mabry Sparks; and his wife Mary Ann Overstreet Sparks. He is survived by: his girlfriend Clara R. Caldwell; his partner's daughters, Teresa Barrett (Vincent) and Jennifer Shaffer (John); his grandchildren, Joshua Hepler, Taylor Tucker and Bella Shaffer; his children, Josh Sparks and Kaytlyn Classey; his close friend Mary Smith; and his friends, Aaron Simmons, Mike Simmons and Willie Simmons. He is also survived by other grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department, 3910 Longdale Furnace Rd, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
