She was predeceased by: her parents, John Evans Loftis and Lula Watkins Loftis; her son Thomas Benson McWhite; and her stepdaughter Geraldine Buchannon. She is survived by: her children, Mary C. Carter of Richmond, VA, John E. McWhite (Daphne) of Ocean Isle, NC, William L. McWhite of Latta, SC, Nancy M. Tackett (Tim) of South Hill, VA, Jackie T. Bracey (Bobby) of Greensboro, NC and Bill Thompson, Jr. of Clarksville, VA.; her grandchildren, Jay Carter (Anne), Gregory Silverman, Amanda McWhite, Matthew McWhite (Abbey), MariCatherine McWhite, Caroline Suits (Jordan) and Michael McWhite; her stepgrandsons, Austin Tackett (Hilary) and Colby Tackett; her great grandchildren, Paige Carter and Sheppard Carter; and her stepgreat-grandsons, Bryson Tackett, Levi Tackett, Warner Tackett and Abram Tackett. She is also survived by her parents, her husband.
