He was predeceased by: his parents, Ogene Pitts and Lucille Cox Pitts; and his brother Jimmy Pitts. He is survived by: his wife Janice Preusse Pitts; his children, Victoria Traugot of St. Augustine, FL, Arlene Pitts-Zele of Beaver, PA, Eric Pitts of Clarksville, VA and Bruce Pitts of Bethesda, MD; and his brother Mark Pitts of Richmond, VA.. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
