He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Clarke Collins and Nettie Virginia Collins (Carwell); his son Phil Collins; and his siblings, Dennis Collins and Janet VanLear.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Wilson Collins; his children, Ellen Ludwick (Carl) of Roanoke, Ray Collins, Jr. (Judy) of Clifton Forge and Steve Collins (Gail) of Harrisionburg; his sister Virginia Leach of Churchville; his brother-in-law Joseph M. Wilson of Athens, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Nate Collins (Annie), Greg Ludwick (Sara), Susan Ormsbee, David Ludwick (Mindi), Mary Catherine Collins and Sarah Collins; and his great grandchildren, Maddie, Celie Collins and Alex Ludwick. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
