With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Pete Vess (Churchville, Virginia), who passed away on November 4, 2024 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Stuart Vess and Irene Vess (Burke); his former wife Naomi Virginia Vess (Sprouse); his siblings, Dorothy Desper and Elmer "June" Vess; and his grandson Scott Vess.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ruth Vess (Sims); his children, Rev. Virginia Lee Pruitt (C. M. Pruitt) of Fredericksburg, Judith Hensley (Phillip Hensley) of Lexington and Donald "Duck" Vess (Phyllis Wenger Vess) of Craigsville; his stepchildren, Alexander Boyd Moore and Christine Elizabeth Hawkins; his grandchildren, Jamie Hensley (Amy Hensley), Jonathan Hensley (Amanda Hensley), Dena Pruitt Dorfman (Dave Dorfman), Regina Pruitt and Brian Vess (Julie Vess); and his great grandchildren, Hayden and Milly Hensley.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Bear Funeral Home (14 Green Hill Ln, Churchville, VA 24421). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
