He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Salyers and Sylvia Salyers; and his siblings, Ruth, Mildred, Shirley, Opal, Brenda, Dorothy, Henry and Arnold.
He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Tracy Vinson (Keith), Ramona Dowdy (Billy), Valerie Burton (Roy) and Kevin Salyers (Jennifer); his sister Bonnie Byrd; his grandchildren, Hilary Thompson (Tim), Rachael Carter (Robert), Adam Dowdy, Hannah Gallo (Nunzio), Nathanial Burton (Jessica), Emily Salyers (Joey Ballard) and Sydney Salyers; and his great grandchildren, Vivianna, Hayden, Andrew, Gabriel, Roman, Silas, Ashlyn and Shepard. He is also survived by family members and friends – including a mother-in-law.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hope Church (2720 Roanoke St, Christiansburg, VA 24073). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens (2880 N Franklin St, Christiansburg, VA 24073).
