He is survived by: his wife Lura Ann Elkins; his children, Stephanie Elkins Tawney (Tracey), James Elkins Jr. (Teresa) and Christopher Elkins; his grandsons, Robert Hopkins Jr., Lance Elkins and Alec Elkins; his great grandchildren, John Hopkins, Theodore Hopkins and Caroline Hopkins; and his brother Darrell Elkins (Mary Jane).
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Horne Funeral Home & Cremation Service (1300 N Franklin St, Christiansburg, VA 24073).
