James Clifton Akers Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Clifton Akers of Christiansburg, Virginia, who passed away on April 21, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Maury Edward and Madgie Spencer Akers; his wife Christine Burke Akers; his son Wayne Akers; and his sister Ruth Spaulding.
He is survived by: his daughter Joetta Whitehurst; his daughter-in-law Tanya Akers; his grandchildren, Christi (Barry Elliott), John Sparks (Lauren Sparks), Stephanie (Derrick Boyd), Stacy (Shep Millar), James (Maegan Akers), Shannon (Josh Collins) and Breana (Zach McManamy); his stepgrandchildren, Tyler, Amanda Marcum and Brian Mullins; and his great grandchildren, Gavin, Mallory, Brooklyn, Alexis, Nicholas, Natalie, Avery, Eden, Skyler, Layla, Laurel, Charlotte, Clara, Braxton, Caden and Caleb. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Mullins Funeral Home (120 W Main St, Radford, VA 24141). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Belview United Methodist Church (3619 Onyx Dr, Radford, VA 24141). A burial was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens (2880 N Franklin St, Christiansburg, VA 24073).
