He was predeceased by: his parents, George Nixon, Sr. and Alma Nixon; his wife Opal Nixon; and his brothers, Henry and Nixon Kenneth.
He is survived by: his daughter Lisa Nixon Lafoon (Mal); his grandsons, Caleb Lafoon (Stephanie), Andrew Lafoon (Hannah) and Micah Lafoon (Melody McCusker); his sisters, Wanda Burrell and Janice Wright; and his sisters-in-law, Doris Nixon, Phyllis Nixon and Wilma Brumfield. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
