He was predeceased by: his sisters, Ruby Jean Taylor, Rose Norwood, Sylvia Hairston, Sarah Hairston and Margaret Billups.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Palmer McKenzie; his grandchildren, N'Dia Cyaeir Braxton, Nylan Kristofer Childress, Derrick Barnes (DJ) and Del (Kwon Barnes); and his brothers, Joe McKenzie (Virginia) of Princeton, WV and Elder Leroy Parsons (Bertha) of Roanoke, VA.
