It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Owens (Chilhowie, Virginia), born in Washington, Virginia, who passed away on April 30, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wilson Owens and Martha Smiley Owens; his wife Mary Irene Owens; his son Jack Owens; and his son-in-law Woodie Powers.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Owens (Barbara) of Chilhowie, Ronald Owens (Carolyn) of Glade Spring, Jeannie Powers of Chilhowie, Patricia Surber (R. T.) of Saltville and Sharon Ellison (David) of Chilhowie; his daughter-in-law Shelby Owens of Chilhowie; his grandchildren, Lisa Stepp (Barry), Russell Powers, Dustin Powers (Kim), Jason Surber (Jennifer), Kristy Nunley (Ernie), Chad Stevenson (Jessica) and Stephanie Gearhart (Curtis); his great grandchildren, Kayla, McKenzie, Emma Stepp, Ethan, Jake Surber, Madison Gearhart, Colt Stevenson, Addy Powers and Kaylee Nunley; and his brother Billy Owens of Kingsport, TN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
