We are sad to announce that on August 7, 2022, Mercedes Staples of Chesterfield, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Miguel A. Cruz and Angelina Castillo Cruz; her grandmothers, Carmen Siu and Margarita Pino; her parents-in-law, Donald Newton Staples and Charlene Smith Staples; her sister Angelina Leeuwrik; her nephew Derek Leeuwrik; and her grandson Aiden Staples.

She is survived by: her husband Donald Wayne Staples; her children, Michael, Marshall (Darcy) and Angelina; and her grandchildren, Reilly Phillips, Chloe Staples, Madyson, Felicity, Tristan, Landon and Kaia Staples. She is also survived by other loving family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital or Boys Town.
