It is with great sadness that we announce the death of LaVerne S. McElwee of Chesterfield, Virginia, who passed away on February 9, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Irma Brown Spencer and Winfred Watkins Spencer; her husband Thomas Woodrow McElwee; and her son Spencer Thomas McElwee. She is survived by: her daughter Elizebeth M. Holmes (Mark); her grandchildren, Caleb Holmes, Cameron Holmes and Collin Holmes; and her sister LaDelle S. Hobson.
