He is survived by: his children, Karen S. Paxton (Dean), Lauren Sawtelle and Charles C. Sawtelle, III; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Scruggs (Dana) and Justin D. Paxton (Carrie); and his great grandchildren, Daly L. Scruggs, Bella E. Scruggs and Joseph Dean Paxton.
