He was predeceased by: his daughters, Virginia and Dolly Ann; and his close friend Nancy Anderson. He is survived by: his daughter Gloria Shelton; and his grandchildren, William, Donnie, Debbie, Cindy, Eddie, Carol and Cheri. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 1Q Palliative Care at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Hospital.
