He was predeceased by: his parents, Nettie Smart Averett and Willie Clarence Averett. He is survived by: his wife Patty Courter Averett; his sister Linda Averett Vernon; his daughter Melonie Lee; his great-nieces, Shelby Kidd and Mya Lee; his siblings-in-law, Susan Wade (Ben) and Carlton Courter (Scarlett); his nephews, Justin Wade and Carl Courter; and his pets, Mia, Rosie, Sandy and Maddie.
He established a pet food donation program to the local food bank 9 years ago & never missed a giveaway, donating over 40, 000 pounds of pet food to needy families & their pets.
