He was predeceased by: his mother Edna Bass Carson; and his brother Ven Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Francine Barnes; his children, Denise Winters, Shayna Barnes and Vernon Barnes II; and his grandchildren, Heather Winters, David Smith and Riley Barnes.
