He was predeceased by: his parent Fred McCoy; and his siblings, Shelia Ann McCoy and James D. McCoy. He is survived by: his parent Mae McCoy Stell; his wife Barbara Carol McCoy; his child Richard L. McCoy, Jr.; his wife Christine; his granddaughters, Debra Thomas and Megan Thomas; his sister Pat Edwards (Tim); his sister-in-law Leslie McCoy; and also, Tina Blair and Becky Thomas (Robert). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Rd., N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803.
