It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mattie L. Brown (Chester, Virginia), born in Hampton, Virginia, who passed away on July 2, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Silvester Brown Jr.; and her siblings, John Wesley Holston, James Lewis Holston, Willie Matthew Holston and Mary Evelyn Sullivan.
She is survived by: her children, Lieutenant Colonel Larry Brown of Chester, VA and Mrs Sharon Peoples of Cedar Falls; her granddaughters, Lasone Cannon of Hampton, Sophia Latimer of Newport News and Victoria Brown of Chester, VA; her sister Rosa Byrd of Griffin; her aunt Mary Dobson of Atlanta, GA.; her sister-in-law Bettye H. Holston of Athens, GA. T; and her close friends, Thelma Allen and Mildred McCormick. She is also survived by several other relatives and friends.
