With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joyce Pembroke (Chester, Virginia), who passed away on September 14, 2018 at the age of 68. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parent Carl H. Slate Sr.; her husband Mark S. Pembroke Sr.; and her sister Stella Nolen. She is survived by: her daughters, Teresa L. Fries of Maine and Karen R. Blackwell (Hakan) of Maine; her stepdaughter Misty Pembroke Grove (Jonathan) of Pennsylvania; her son Mark S. Pembroke Jr. (Amanda) of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Austin Clayton, Morgan Clayton and Rachel Fries; her mother Rosemary Hotz Slate Scarborough; her siblings, Carl H. Slate Jr. (Connie), Edward Slate (Stephanie), Dianne S. Mallard (Stewart), Rodger A. Slate (Tina) and Thomas B. Slate (Judy); and her friends, Jonathan Wheeler (Stacie), Madelyn, Rhys and Michael Wheeler (LeAnne). She is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
