He was predeceased by: his mother Frances Lillie Hicks Brown; his daughters, Patrina James and Carolyn Ann Brown; and his siblings, Levi Brown, Bernard Brown, Herman Brown, Herbert Brown, James Brown, George Brown, Beatrice Brown, Daisy Brown, Catherine Bullock, Edna Gilliam and Lillie Parker.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Brown; his children, George Claiborne of Hopewell, Michael Claiborne of Atlanta, Georgia, Kevin Johnson of Woodbridge, Marshall Shelton (Grover) of New Kent, Jacqueline Claiborne of Hampton and Sharon Elder (Earl) of Petersburg, Virginia; and his sister-in-law Virgie Wilson of Petersburg, Virginia.. He is also survived by his forty grandchildren consisting of eighteen grandchildren, twenty great Grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces.
