She was predeceased by: her parents, Hannis Walden and Bettie Mae Walden; her brothers, Oscar, James, William, Earl and J. C.; her parents-in-law, Jesse and Rosa Mae Cooper; her former husband Lynell E. Cooper, Sr.; her children, Lynell E. Cooper, Jr. and Gwendolyn Cooper; and her adoptive daughter JoAnne Shaw Henigan.
She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Sheila Cooper of Dallas, TX; her sister-in-law Jean Walden of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Monica Cooper of Colorado Springs, CO, Lisa Cooper Collins (Darnell) of Petersburg, VA, Christopher Cooper (Antares) of Dallas, TX, Melissa Cooper Fennell Daniel (Detrick) of Charlotte, NC and Jared Pearson of Los Angeles, CA; her great grandchildren, Farasha, Dakotah and Kühl; and her great great grandchild Jerome. She is also survived by five nieces, six nephews, and numerous cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the J. T. Fisher Funeral Services (1248 George Washington Hwy N, Chesapeake, VA 23323). A wake was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Noble Street Baptist Church (100 Noble St, Portsmouth, VA 23702).
