He is survived by: his siblings, William Barnes and Joyce L. Wilson of Atlanta, GA; his children, Vanita S. Knox of Suffolk, VA, Baron S. Barnes (Wendy) of Portsmouth, VA, Bennie Barnes II (Shunquita) of Decatur, GA and Jason B. Barnes (Serita) of Atlanta, GA; his niece Rhonda M. Smith of Marina de; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Brian K. Arrington and Raylon B. Pitt; his mother-in-law Betty V. Whitney; and his close friends, Lonnie Mason and Alexis Hull. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Cathedral of Faith Cogic (2020 Portlock Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23324).
