He was predeceased by: his father Bobby Samuel Stump. He is survived by: his mother Maybelle Thomas Stump Ashworth; his wife Kathryn Farmer Stump; his daughter Mary Beth Rogers (Daniel) of Chatham, Virginia; his sister Carol Motley (Tim) of Chatham, Virginia; his granddaughter Claire Elizabeth Rogers; and his siblings-in-law, Nell Hardy (Vic) and Ron Farmer (Julie). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Danville/Pittsylvania County Cancer Association and to the Chatham Rescue Squad.
