John Shorter Jr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Shorter Jr. (Chatham, Virginia), who passed away on October 1, 2018 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parent John Britton Shorter, Sr. (Elsie Adkins Shorter); his daughter Cindy Shorter; and his siblings, Nancy West, Ivelle Saunders, Jim Shorter and Bobby Shorter.
He is survived by: his children, Lisa Shorter of Chatham, Britton Burkett (Sarah) of Washington, Tyler Burkett of Richmond and Steele Burkett of Charlotte; and his brothers, Vincent Shorter, Thomas Shorter of Chatham and Julian Neff Shorter of Kingman.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the Chatham Presbyterian Church or the Dixie Doss Nursing Scholarship Fund.
