He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Gibson and Nellie Mahan Gibson; his daughter Sheena Dawn Gibson; and his siblings, Geraldine Clay, Nell Dillard, Barbara Jones, Pearl Hedrick, Virgie Prather, Dewey Gibson, Percy Lee Gibson and Randy Gibson.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Towler Gibson; his children, Rev. Steven Ray Gibson (Jane R.), Troy Keith Gibson (Devie S.) and Tami Lynne Morris (Kenny D.); his brother Shorty Gibson; his grandchildren, Noah Jacob Gibson (Kari Smith), Amelia Lauren Gibson (Alex Whalen) and Kerry Gibson Shelton; and his great grandchildren, Nicholas Scott Shelton, Jr. and Henry Jacob Gibson.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Greenpond Baptist Church Sign Fund, 7120 Anderson Mill Rd. Chatham, VA 24531.
