She was predeceased by: her parents, Olive Green "Dump" Kendrick and Lou Emma Amos Kendrick; her husband James Barrette Oakes; her son Dexter James Oakes; and her siblings, Arthur Kendrick, Paul Kendrick, Raleigh Kendrick, Henry Kendrick, George Kendrick, Otis Kendrick, Louise Turner, Lizzie Davidson, Cora Rigney and Nella Kendrick.

She is survived by: her grandson Brian Keith Oakes of Browns Summit, NC; and her great grandchild Everett Paul Oakes.
