He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Benjamin Pope and Leva Johnson Pope; his son Richie Pope; and his siblings, Dennis Pope, Durwood Pope, Hazel Pope Tart, Elsie Byrd, Reba Byrd, Evangaline Barbour and Edna Rayner.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria East Pope; his children, Larry Davis Pope (Linda) of Apex, NC, Terry Lee Pope (Carrie) of Sumter, SC, Donnie Ray Pope (Charlene) of Chatham, Eddie Lynn Pope (Gwen) of Hurt and Sherry Pope Newby (Randy) of Gretna; his stepchildren, Delvin East (Mary) of Chatham and Charlene East Pope (Donnie) of Chatham; his sister Lena Pope Honeycutt of Michigan; and his daughter-in-law Jean Wilson (James) of Danville. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
