Byron Duke Motley Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Byron Duke Motley of Chatham, Virginia, who passed away on February 13, 2025 at the age of 67. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As Byron Duke departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Byron Duke. Though Byron Duke may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Duke Sterlin Motley and Bevelene Furrow Motley; his brother Galen D. Motley; and his brother-in-law Ricky Haskins. He is survived by: his wife Janice Haskins Motley; and his siblings-in-law, Ray Haskins (Katie) of Callands, Carolyn Towler (Bobby) of Chatham, Sylvia Swanson (Roy) of Callands and Mary Barker of Callands. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hillcrest Burial Park.
